Race Recap: The Salvation Army's 2024 The Most Good 5K
On September 28th, 2024, runners and supporters gathered at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, NJ, for the Salvation Army's annual The Most Good 5K. Despite a drizzly morning, spirits were high as participants prepared to take on the course, and by the time the race started at 8 AM, the rain had lightened, creating a perfect atmosphere for running.
The event drew a diverse crowd, all united by a common goal: to raise funds for the Salvation Army's mission to combat homelessness in Northern New Jersey. With each step, participants not only challenged themselves but also contributed to a vital cause.
In the men’s race, Griffin Branch showcased his impressive speed and determination, crossing the finish line in 18:58. His performance not only earned him the title of overall male champion but also set a competitive tone for the day. On the women’s side, Gabriela Reyes emerged as the overall female winner, finishing strong with a time of 24:03. Her accomplishment was particularly noteworthy given the wet conditions, and her spirited finish inspired many fellow runners.
Participants were greeted at the finish line with cheers, refreshments, and the camaraderie that characterized this community event. The race not only provided an opportunity for fitness but also fostered awareness and support for a critical mission in the region.
As the results were tallied and awards distributed, it was clear that the day had been a success—not just in terms of race times, but in the impact made on the lives of those in need. The funds raised during this event will go a long way in supporting the Salvation Army's initiatives to provide shelter, food, and resources for the homeless in Northern New Jersey.
Thank you to all who participated, volunteered, and supported The Most Good 5K. Together, we made strides not only in the race but also in our commitment to serving the community. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
